downtown Los Angeles restaurant, The Gorbals.

The Details

Chef Ilan Hall has opened his long-awaited restaurant, The Gorbals,
in the historic Alexandria Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. An iconic
location for a very interesting and unique restaurant experience.
The Gorbals is a contemporary restaurant that will pay homage to
the backgrounds of parents–his Jewish Mother and his Scottish Father.

The name, "the Gorbals", was actually the name of a borough in
Glasgow, Scotland where the chef's father had grown up. A city district
on the south bank of the Clyde River famous for it's honest, hard-working
residents and the city's largest Jewish neighborhood. Using this concept
as a guide, The Gorbals identity has been designed to balance the old
and the new. To maintain the classic restraint of European design while
showing a totally new and innovative restaurant direction.
